Facebook Plus or Meta Verified? What each Meta subscription actually gets you

Meta now sells two subscriptions that sound like variations of the same thing. They are not. Facebook Plus is a small consumer plan for story features. Meta Verified is a more expensive subscription built around identity, impersonation protection, and — the part that matters most when something goes wrong — human support. Meta has confirmed the two products coexist, and that Plus does not replace Verified.

If the question is “which one gets me help when my account is hacked or impersonated,” the answer is Meta Verified, and it is not close: Facebook Plus includes no support access of any kind. If the only thing you want is extra story features, Plus is the cheaper and more sensible buy.

This guide is based on Meta’s published subscription pages and help documentation, plus mainstream reporting of the Plus launch where Meta has not published an equivalent details page. It reflects pricing and features as of September 2026. Prices below are US list prices; Meta shows your local price during signup, and web signups are cheaper than in-app purchases.

What Facebook Plus is

Facebook Plus launched globally in late May 2026 at $3.99 per month. It is a personal, cosmetic plan aimed at people who post stories:

• Stories stay visible for 48 hours instead of 24.
• Animated “super reactions” on stories.
• Story rewatch counts, a searchable story viewer list, and viewer search.
• Anonymous story previews without appearing in the viewer list.
• Profile and app-icon customization.

What it does not include: a verified badge, impersonation protection, priority reach, account recovery assistance, or any way to contact a human at Meta. Free users see the same recovery pages as a Plus subscriber. Meta has also said Plus will eventually sit alongside other plans under a “Meta One” umbrella — but today it is a story-features plan, nothing more.

What Meta Verified is

Meta Verified has existed since 2023 and is aimed at creators and businesses. The Standard tier is US$11.99 per month when you subscribe on the web, or US$14.99 per month through the app, per profile. It includes:

• A verified badge, after identity confirmation with a government ID.
• Proactive impersonation protection — Meta monitors for fake accounts copying your identity.
• Enhanced support: chat or email with support agents 24/7, available on every plan. Higher tiers add faster handling ($49.99/month Plus), phone callbacks ($149.99/month Premium), and active case monitoring ($499.99/month Max).
• Profile extras such as search optimization and exclusive stickers.

Meta Verified for businesses follows the same shape — Business Standard at $14.99/month, up to Business Max at $499.99/month — and adds features like employee impersonation protection on higher tiers. Each subscription covers one subscribed Page, Instagram account, or WhatsApp number; the benefits, including support access, apply only to that profile. Meta also lets one Facebook and one Instagram profile in the same Accounts Center subscribe together at a discount.

Two honest caveats. Verification requires eligibility — 18 or older, minimum account activity, and an ID matching the profile. And support is not a magic key: Meta’s support agents can help with account access and security issues, including hacked accounts, but they cannot override ad review or Community Standards decisions, and they do not guarantee any particular outcome.

For a personal account where the worst case is an annoying recovery process, Facebook Plus does its job for a third of the price — as long as you understand you are buying story features, not protection. For a profile that carries a business, an audience, or income, the gap in the third and fourth rows is the entire argument. There is no version of Facebook Plus that gives you a person to talk to when the account is taken over.

Meta One Essential, a $14.99/month plan in limited testing, is reported to combine the verified badge and impersonation protection with professional tools, and Meta says Meta One is where its subscriptions are heading. It is not broadly available yet, so for most people today the real choice is still Plus versus Verified.

Who each one is for

• Choose Facebook Plus if you want longer stories, super reactions, and viewer insights on a personal account, and you accept that support is unchanged from the free tier.
• Choose Meta Verified if the account matters — a business Page, a creator profile, a public-facing identity — and you want impersonation monitoring and a support channel that does not exist otherwise. Standard is the sensible starting tier; upgrade only if you specifically need faster, callback, or monitored support.
• If your account was just hacked, do not buy either one as a first step. Start with Meta’s free recovery flows, which we cover in our recovery guide. Meta Verified can help move a stalled case and is worth considering if the free process runs out of road, but it is not a recovery tool by itself.

For Canadian businesses, Meta Verified for business has been available in Canada since 2023 and is priced in local currency at signup — confirm the current CAD price in the app or Business Suite before budgeting, since it changes.
